Today Jenna went to the hospital and had a test ran on her kidneys. From earlier prenatal ultrasounds, the tech noticed that her kidneys were dialated. From that time until now Jenna has had many ultrasounds showing that they have remained dialated. This condition is called Hydronephrosis.
The test today was to see if she had kidney reflux. Joe and I were worried and dreading the test because it involved a catheter. We arrived at the hospital and Jenna was in her normal morning mood, very happy. All smiles and talking, enjoying all the attention because Bethany and Joseph stayed with Mamma. The tech took us back and placed Jenna on a table. She took a x-ray of Jenna's kidneys and then came...the catheter. As the nurses worked with her, I talked and showed her a little stuffed puppy that the hospital gave her. Jenna just smiled and wiggled. She never even cried!! Through the entire procedure she was amazing! So good, she even fell asleep while the doctor ran the test. The doctor said Jenna doesn't have kidney reflux, which is very good! However, she may have an obstruction causing the dialation. Next week she has an appointment with a pediatric urologist.
I did some internet research and my guess is that her problem is not severe enough to do anything about at this point. It may correct itself in the next year or so. This will likely be the beginning of many ultrasounds to monitor her kidneys and see what happens.
We are so thankful that everything went so well today! God is so good to keep our little Jenna at peace! He loves her more than we do and that is so amazing! What a loving Father she has taking care of her!
