Children's Starbucks

Bethany and Joseph have a cold, runny noses, cough and whininess (I know that's not a word). Bethany is glad she's not "spitting up like that one time" she was sick, so am I. I told her this is the good kind of sick.
Chocolate milk is a treat for them. When they are sick, I give them as much chocolate milk, as often as they want. Yesterday I made homemade hot chocolate. It is the best recipe I have found so I thought I'd share it. I let them drink it in "big people cups" Bethany said, and I put whipped cream on top.

Children's Starbucks
1/4 cups Sugar
4 tbsp Cocoa
1/4 tsp Cinnamon
4 cups Milk
1/4 tsp Vanilla

Combine sugar, cocoa, cinnamon and 1/2 cup of milk in saucepan. Mix well. Slowly adding remaining milk. Stir occasionally until warm. Add vanilla. Top with whip cream and cocoa.

If you try it let me know what you think. Or if you have a great hot chocolate recipe, leave it here so we can try it.

You are surely making memories that will last a lifetime. Here is a recipe for Bethany, Joseph and Jenna from their Great Grandma Hamilton. She would make it for us on really cold days or when we had come in, after playing in the snow.

Great Grandma Hamilton's Hot Chocolate
1/3 cup cocoa
1/3 cup sugar
dash of salt
1/2 cup water
Add and bring to a boil for 1 min.
Then stir in
3 1/2 cups milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Heat until hot, but do not boil
add marshmallows to the top.
YUMMY! It brings back memories :)
