I need coffee.....breath

I have been contemplating taking the coffee drinking plunge. Up until recently, I never liked REAL coffee. I occasionally would drink the yummy kind, just for fun, not out of necessity. Over the past few months, I have seriously been thinking I NEED to get on the real stuff on a regular basis. I am not a morning person, especially when I have a random sleep schedule with a 5 month old. Actually, I have had a random sleep schedule for the past 4 years. The future looks kinda grim as to when that might improve.
Coffee drinking on a regular basis scares me! What if I am addicted and can't function without it?! Isn't it unhealthy to put your body through the ups and downs, highs and lows of caffeine? I bought some REAL coffee this weekend and made some this morning. The smell of coffee is awesome! I love the way our house smells!! I got it down after much doctoring. Now I have that awful, knock you over, coffee breath. I am going to give it a few days and I'll let you know about my final outcome.

I don't think you should start into that habit, personally. It's gonna be hard to kick it once you start. Why not try something like green tea with ginseng or something more natural to wake you up in the morning?
If you DO decide to stick with coffee though, drink just half a cup and fill the other half with milk, that way you're getting more calcium and protein and still a hint of caffeine. I make it that way and then add some Splenda for sweetening.

Just a thought though!

haha...I never have liked coffee, or its smell. My parents don't drink it either, with the excuse that "they never grew up." Some people seem to need it to help them get going in the morning. I'm not a morning person either.... Well, if it works for you, that'll be great!! :)

I understand what you are saying Melissa. I never thought I'd be trying to start drinking coffee. This is just proof that motherhood will change you, make you reevaluate EVERYTHING you thought you'd never question, it's taught me to NEVER say never! :)

I actually used to drink coffee when I was like 7, 8, 9, and 10 years old. My great-grandma made Folger's (the BEST coffee!) and would load it with milk and sugar for me. My great-grandaddy told me it would put hair on my chest though, so I started to worry! :)
Now I just enjoy my Starbucks nonfat, decaff, toffee nut lattes with no foam or whip. Sometimes just the illusion of caffeine helps me wake up!

i agree that motherhood makes you NEVER say never again. I hate the taste and temperature of coffee although I love the smell. I start my day off with the not so healthy coffeee alternative... cafffeine free diet coke. i so look foward to them and although they are caffeine free I get a jolt of energy and so look foward to them in the morning. Hope you find something that works for you. Also your pictures are so cute. I love all the toes
