Worm weather

Joe and the kids were playing outside and found these worms. Inspired by Curious George, they decided to make a little home for them. Although I couldn't find this how-to lesson on PBSkids.org, there are alot of really fun science and math projects that correlate with the show. From this site, I found these simple steps to starting our worm house-
  • Place wet newspaper strips in the bottom of your container; plastic, glass or wood.
  • Add the worms with some dirt and feed them fresh vegetables and fruit scraps. (We put some leaves and egg shells in our to start it off.)
  • Cover the container with a lid and punch holes in the top.
  • Store in a dark cool place.
I'll let you know the outcome, right now we're learning as we go. If our project is successful, maybe we'll plant some flower seeds in our compost.
