The kids and I tried out this recipe for Easter Cookies a couple of weeks ago. Wanted to pass on the info, in case you are interested in doing this fun, learning experience with your kids. It was a really neat hands on lesson for my kids, especially Bethany. With each ingredient you read a scripture and tell what it represents. Bethany and Joseph were beating pecans while I read, "Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged. The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They clothed him in a purple robe and went up to him again and again, saying, "Hail, king of the Jews!" And they struck him in the face." John 19:1-3 Bethany suddenly stopped pounding her pecans with a wooden spoon and said, "Wait a minute! I didn't know THEY beat Jesus!!" It made me want to cry seeing her realize what Jesus did for us.
Yesterday, we made Resurrection Buns this recipe is much simpler and VERY yummy. You put a yeast roll around a marshmallow, dip it in butter, and then sugar and cinnamon. After the rolls bake, they are hollow and the marshmallow is gone.
