Wash your hands, wash your hands

Fall break hasn't been as great and wonderful as it first appeared Saturday. After my blog post about our fun day, later that evening, at supper I suddenly felt overcome with sleepiness. I asked Joe, "Have you ever been so tired you feel nauseous?" I'd had Panera's frozen caramel coffee and figured I was crashing from it. By 8PM I couldn't keep my eyes open so I soaked in a hot bath and went to bed.
I didn't think much about this unusual behavior for me, and went to sleep only to wake up every hour. When I woke up, my body hurt all over. My back, legs, shoulders, neck and arms severely ached. I'm used to having rough nights sleep and just kept shrugging off my symptoms.
I was up early the next morning, again unusual for me, and it suddenly came to me that I was sick, very sick and I realized I had a fever. I told Joe, "I think I have the flu."
Aside from my thyroid and low energy saga, I am always the healthy person in the family. I either don't catch whatever it is when Joe and the kids are sick, or I'm the last to get it. I can't remember the last time I went to the doctor for being sick. I just don't go to the doctor for things like that.
My head was hurting so bad, I was achy all over, I had a fever, and was indescribably tired. You know that I'm used to being tired, this was a new kinda tired. I decided I had to go to an urgent care center and find out if I had the flu.
The nurse tested me for the flu, and it came back negative. BUT, here's the deal, that only means I don't have Flu B {seasonal flu}. If it had come back positive it would have meant I have EITHER Flu B OR Flu A {swine flu}. Even though it came back negative there is still a 40 - 60% chance I have Flu A. Since I had so many symptoms of the swine flu, the doctor said, I probably have it, and prescribed Tamiflu to me.
I haven't had a fever since yesterday morning, so I technically shouldn't be contagious any longer. The germ can live on surfaces for 2 days, so please pray that Joe and the kids don't catch this. My mom picked up the kids last night and has had them ever since. She is so good to us and hopefully we didn't pack up the swine flu and take it to her house, so far the kids are feeling fine. Joe has been doing his best to stay clear of me, spraying Lysol and Clorox wiping everything down.
I am hoping to feel better tomorrow. Since my fever broke, the aches and headaches aren't as bad. I've been terribly nauseous and just want to stay in the fetal position. I for one, will say this H1N1 flu is much more wicked than I thought it would be, and I really didn't think I'd catch it. Thankfully though I am a healthy person and will get over this easily and SOON!
Poor Joe, this is not how he planned to spend his fall break. It's been nice enjoying a quiet house and no responsibilities {worth it? No! but I'm looking at the bright side.}, but I am ready for my babies to come home. I miss them. Jenna walked around the house on Sunday calling for me ever so often. It broke my heart to hear her yelling, "Mommmy? Mommmmy?"
I'll keep you posted, until then wash your hands!

Hope you're feeling better soon. I hate the feeling of 'sick'. It's not normal for me either. Keep us updated!

Sorry to hear that you have the flu. My MD said that I've got to get the swine flu shot as soon as it's avaliable because it's especially dangerous for pregnant women. I was also told that Nate will need to get it because I person can get the flu and it can lay dormant for up to two years without showing any signs. This means that Nate could get it and pass it to our baby without him ever getting sick!

Oh man, so sorry to hear your so sick and H1N1 to boot!

My twins are dealing with Hand, Foot & Mouth or so it seems. I am barging into my doc's office tomorrow to get an answer. I found another sore in Sasha's mouth tonight and even though they have not had fever they are still not up to par.

Bad news...a friend of a friend's children were diagnosed with H1N1 and they had sores in their mouth.

Get better and yes Wash Wash Wash your hands everybody.
