Yippy yay, snow day

We woke up to snow this morning, the first snow this winter. {Plus, it's a rarity around here!} School was canceled, so Joe was home with us. When I was growing up, being home schooled, I didn't always get out of school when public school was canceled for snow days. Now that I'm home educating my kids, if school gets canceled then Joe is home, so we are out too!
We started off the day with pancakes, stacks of pancakes. Jenna thought she was starving, I think she finished up after eating 4 pancakes.
After breakfast, Joe crashed on the couch where he stayed until 4 o'clock! He was tired and I felt that he deserved a day of doing nothing anyway. The kids woke up with runny noses and coughs so they have been inside all day watching movies. Hopefully, they will be feeling better tomorrow and Joe can take them outside. School has already been canceled for tomorrow too!
I get the itch every January to detox our house of clutter. After Christmas, the house is overrun with stuff. About every six months, things start getting crazy and we can't find what we need. I start feeling like I can't breathe and the walls are closing in. It literally keeps me up at night. The past few nights, I couldn't fall asleep because my mind is racing about all the things that need organized.
This week I've been chipping away at the disarray a little each day. I was hoping for this snow day to really fiercely attack Bethany and Joseph's and Jenna's rooms.
We put Bethany and Joseph in the same room at the end of November to keep them from waking Jenna up every morning. It did serve it's purpose, but the two of them together in one room has been crazy. They are both pack rats and didn't have much room to begin with, then with all their junk belongings there wasn't even a path to their beds.
So for hours, and hours today I sorted and tossed, organized and tossed, moved furniture and came to the conclusion that Bethany had to go back in with Jenna.
It was exhausting, Jenna was with me all the while, under my feet, pulling things from one pile to another. Unsorting what I'd just sorted. By the end, she was worn out too and just wanted me to put her to bed. It is the most satisfying and rewarding feeling! I am so relieved to have this big job finished.

Bethany came fluttering in, in her fairy wings. She was thrilled when she saw her room. So happy, she broke out her funny faces. She promises to sleep late and not wake up Jenna. I want to believe her so badly!
Maybe tomorrow, I'll actually get out in the snow, rather then take picture through my windows. I'm secretly hoping to get curtains made for Joseph and the girls rooms. Well, see. Right now I'm just enjoying all that I accomplished today. A warm bath sounds really good!

Hope you are staying warm too!

I love the pictures. The one of Jenna in the floor- priceless. I'm sure Bethy is happy to be back in "the girls" room. Glad you are feeling better and getting back to your old self.

I stayed inside while Chris and Makenna braved the cold. Now she is out again with the cousins. I think I am just asking for her sold to come back.

What a wonderful day!!!

I, too, have been decluttering. It's so freeing and feels so good to have everything in it's place -- and not worry about being crushed by an avalanche of junk!

Hope you have a fun snow day tomorrow too!

I have to say I take our snow forgranted This year we are lacking in that department for sure but the freezing cold has made up for it.

Way to go clearing up the room and hooking the girls back up together. I have a problem sticking with one thing...mostly because the kids interrupt and hey I am their Mother and they have needs right?

I am still tackling toys/clutter/messes today. WISH ME LUCK!

p.s. love the pink nightstand.
