Food for thought

Psalm 106:2
Who can proclaim the mighty acts of the Lord, or fully declare his praise?

This is our neighbor's fence that is on the side of our back yard. Well, I say neighbor but currently no one is living there and the house is for sale. I am in love with this beautiful bush that hangs over the fence with pretty lavender clusters. I've been tempted every evening to walk over and steal pick some for enjoyment inside my house. Maybe if a few more hang on my side I'll give in, I suppose this plant could be the deciding factor on someone having to buy this house! I figured it was free to take a picture so I'm sharing it with you, though it's not as great as in person. {or as it would be in my house!}
After putting the kids to bed last night, Joe and I were sitting on our deck enjoying the cool summer breeze {and yes, I was coveting the lavender bush!} and some thing in our conversation reminded me of a scripture I had read earlier that morning. I said, "Yeah I was reading in Jeremiah and it said, 'the Lord said.' I don't remember what the Lord said." At this point we both had to laugh. Then I went on to explain, "But before it said what the Lord said, it talked about God telling the sun to shine and the stirring up the sea to make waves. Isn't that crazy to think about God telling the sun to rise each morning, or the stars to shine? We think we don't get all caught up in scientific facts about things, but we do! We think, 'Oh yeah of course the sun is going to come up at such-in-such a time because the earth is rotating. And the waves are in the ocean because of the wind and the earth turning.' All that is true, but how amazing is it to think about God speaking to creation each day? This kind of thinking completely removes an awesome Creator from getting praise and attention."
Jeremiah 31:35
This is what the Lord says,
he who appoints the sun to shine by day, who decrees the moon and stars to shine by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar- the Lord Almighty is his name:

I don't even know what to add to this, but I just wanted to remind myself to give praise where praise is due. God gives us creation to remind us of Him and His nature. Like in Matthew 6:26, Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'

Love the reminder of Who created EVERYTHING and makes it all go round! He is amazing and I love that He even has left some cues for us to think we have it figured out... then when we come before Him and see the truth... we are truly amazed!!!
Also, a thought on the Lavender- if you would trim it to make it look orderly and manicured (thus freeing some for your home!!) it would certainly be a selling feature for potential buyers to have such a lovely bush!!!
