Life doesn't always go as planned

This day was a frightful mess.
The kind of horrible day that made me want to crawl into back into bed and be a baby, sleep like a baby.
It's been quite the day. After posting that very bright and cheerful post last night about loving the mornings with Brady, it all went down hill  This morning was not so picturesque.  It started  around 1 AM, just as I was ready to lay my head on the pillow and sleep.  Brady started kinda wheezing and had this raspiness in his throat every time he took a breath.  It sounded like he needed to cough or clear his throat, but he couldn't.  I tried to suction out his nose and that didn't help.  He wasn't having difficulty breathing although he got choked several times.  He sounded terrible and was very loud.  By morning, I hadn't gotten much rest from his noisy breathing and worrying that he was having trouble getting air.  At 7:30 he was worse and sounded awful when he cried.  I called the doctor and they had me bring him in at 8:30.
The doctor said his lungs sounded clear and his ears were fine,  they tested him for RSV just to be safe and thankfully that was negative.  The doctor said it seems to be a really bad cold, mostly in his head.  I was glad for the good report, but sad that we can't do more for him, at the time he sounded pitiful sick.
I made a run to Wal-mart to pick up some things and came home ready to crash for a little while.  That never happened, because as I was trying to get things caught up before resting, my cell phone rang and it was our electric company.
Have you ever gotten a call from you electric company?  I hadn't and hope to never get another one.  The gentleman was simply calling to inform me that our account had been flagged because we have used an excessive amount of electricity this month.  He said we are going to have a $500 bill this month and wanted to let us know ASAP, because we have to have some issue going on with our heat unit or something to have used so much power.  I was shocked and sick!!  I was already cranky from lack of sleep and that just really stressed me out.
We had wondered about our insulation and had our unit checked out a couple months ago so we put off having the heating and air people come look at it and called an insulation company.  Long story short, the guy came right over and told us he didn't think that was a problem.  As he was looking under the house, he found that an air duct was detached from the return air vent.  So, our furnace has been heating the cold air from under our house, rather than our already warm air from inside our house.
Thankfully, we found the problem, but my sickness is slowly subsiding. {Slowly}  Joe and I had been saving some money over the past couple months and with some Christmas money we planned on replacing our 7 year old computer.  Planned, as in soon, as in the next couple weeks.  It was going to be our Christmas present. Now, we'll be paying a heating bill, how lovely!!
Brady has improved today.  He sleeps in the swing or bouncy seat, I'm running the humidifier and keeping a close watch on him.  Maybe we'll both get some sleep tonight.  Hopefully, he'll get over this cold as easily as the last one, this one just showed up all at once.  He hasn't even been out much, so I guess one of us passed a germ to him.
I have to remind myself in times like these, that bills can be paid.  It's just a bill and life goes on.  We are healthy and like Joe said when the kids were all giggling at themselves around the supper table, "The kids are happy, that's all the matters."
This little squirt is growing, he weighed 9 lbs. 10 oz. today.  Nice and healthy.
Our Christmas tree will be up as we ring in the new year.  I don't even have plans to take it down yet.  I doubt I'll be putting together a new year's post, so have a Happy New Year Stalkers!  I hope it's warm, safe and healthy.  May the Lord bless your 2011 year, I'm excited to see what's in store for our family.  It'll be so fun and full with 4 children to keep us busy.  Thanks for reading along in 2010, it's been an amazing year.  I like even numbers, I'm kinda sad to see it go.  Words cannot express my gratitude to the Lord for all His goodness to us this year!

I am so thankful that Brady is doing better today. That must have been so scary, so little to be so sick. I am so sorry about your electric bill. How frustrating that must be. Praying that God rains down provision for you to be able to purchase your computer!
