8 days 'til Christmas

The kids look forward to doing our 10 days 'til Christmas Countdown each year.  Everyday one of them gets to pull a card and we either get to do something fun or they get to eat something fun!
Today's card said something that none of us had ever done before, ring a bell for the Salvation Army.  Tonight the three older kids and I went to Wal-mart and rang bells and they wanted to sing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" and "Jingle Bells", so we sang.  I didn't have the heart to tell them I didn't want to sing or never would have sang when I was their age to a bunch of strangers.  We sang those two songs over and over for an hour and everytime someone stopped to put money in the bucket one of them would say, "Thank you! Merry Christmas!"
My mommy heart was proud of them, yet humbled by their innocence and the smiles they put on so many faces other than my own.  Truly a really great memory and something we'll be doing again next year.
