Why I use doTERRA essential oils

Hello Friends, I just want to take a few minutes to share with you my new experiences and learning about essential oils. I am a complete newbie and really hadn't even heard about essential oils until I went to a home school conference prepared to buy books, not oils.
Impulse buying is never a problem for me, I am a shopper and a saver. That night I had a budget for buying books and no budget for buying oils! Shockingly, after talking to the folks at the doTERRA table, trying some of the oils on Bethany and myself, Joe insisted that we give them a try and I agreed 100%.

Bethany has struggled with allergies since she was a baby, that resulted in numerous ear infections, then tubes in her ears and after they fell out her ear drum ruptured at least 3 times from infection. Her ear never completely healed itself and we had ear surgery in December to repair it. The ENT warned us prior to surgery that he was concerned the surgery would not work because her tonsils and adenoids were so enlarged. Every doctor that has ever looked in her mouth remarks on her tonsils and adenoids and cannot believe she does not snore or get strep often.
We opted to have the ear surgery without waiting to have her tonsils and adenoids out because we know that is a hard surgery. We found out 3 months after her ear surgery that it indeed did not work, so the ENT again suggested taking her tonsils and adenoids out and then repeating her ear surgery. The tonsil and adenoid surgery was tentatively scheduled for this month but we just didn't want to do it.
There are numerous testimonies about the results with using doTERRA for allergies and we were eager to give them a try. Within minutes of Bethany smelling lavender and rubbing it around her nose, she immediately can tell a difference. Since getting our Family Physician Kit in the mail, we have given her a drop of peppermint oil in water to drink in addition to the lavender and it really helps her, just doing it once in the morning. I am hopeful that if we use this consistently, her tonsils and adenoids will calm down.

While we were on vacation, Bethany got water in her ear with the hole in it. She is very protective of it and seldom gets water in it anymore because she is so careful with it. She was getting a quick bath after being in the pool and suddenly got water in it, the pain is excruciating and she was crying. I rubbed some lavender on the outer part of her ear and as soon as I did she stopped and said, "Oh, it just popped! That feels so good!" I gave her a warm rag to hold on her ear over the lavender and she immediately stopped crying and kept saying how good it felt. She went from crying out in pain to calming down and relaxing. Crazy, I know!

I received a free bottle of Wild Orange while when I purchased our kit. It is great to calming kids down I was told. On Father's Day, Brady didn't get a nap and Anne was teething. Every time I put Anne down for a nap she cried and never fell asleep. Later in the day, Brady was crazy hyper and Anne was irritable and frustrated. I really had not belief that the oils would do anything, I jokingly rubbed Wild Orange on the bottoms of both of their feet and the room was so much calmer and quieter within minutes. Again, I know it sounds crazy but I am becoming a believer!

This week, Anne ran a high fever and Jenna did too. I am still learning how to best use the oils for different conditions and likely didn't use them often enough the first day, but now 3 days later they are both well. I gave Jenna Motrin on the first day, because I did not realize I could use peppermint oils for a fever. The Motrin didn't really knock her fever and I used On Guard, Oregano and Melaleuca for her cold symptoms. The second day I did not use Motrin and just used peppermint to control her fever.

We originally bought the oils to solely treat Bethany's allergies, but as life presents sicknesses and ailments I am realizing these oils treat about anything. Just keeping Anne and Jenna from having to go to the doctor, paid for the kit and we have so many oils on hand and things we can treat with them. It didn't just buy us a one time trip to the doctor for a one time prescription of an antibiotic. Being a family of 7, it won't take long and these oils will be saving us money.
I am sharing this info about doTERRA because I have several friends who have asked about cost and where to buy. It is faster for me to type a one time blog post than to email numerous individuals. I am not looking to make this a business or trying to sell something I do not believe in. doTERRA is not paying me or giving me anything to blog about their product. My doTERRA link does allow me to earn a percentage back and if you choose to join you can do the same. As I said, I am still learning but if you have questions feel free to comment or email me.

Essential oils are natural aromatic compounds found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants. They can be both beautifully and powerfully fragrant. If you have ever enjoyed the gift of a rose, a walk by a field of lavender, or the smell of fresh cut mint, you have experienced the aromatic qualities of essential oils. In addition to giving plants their distinctive smells, essential oils provide plants with protection against predators and disease and play a role in plant pollination.
Essential oils are non water-based phytochemicals made up of volatile organic compounds. Although they are fat soluble, they do not include fatty lipids or acids found in vegetable and animal oils. Essential oils are very clean, almost crisp, to the touch and are immediately absorbed by the skin. Pure, unadulterated essential oils are translucent and range in color from crystal clear to deep blue.
dōTERRA (CPTG) Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade® essential oils represent the safest, purest, and most beneficial essential oils available today. They are gently and skillfully distilled from plants that have been patiently harvested at the perfect moment by experienced growers from around the world for ideal extract composition and efficacy. Experienced essential oil users will immediately recognize dōTERRA's superior quality standard for naturally safe, purely effective therapeutic-grade essential oils.

That sounds awesome! Are they safe for pregnancy? I wonder if they'd work on my allergies?

Melissa, I have wondered the same thing, regarding using them for colds during pregnancy. Some of them are safe and some are not. I know that we use lavender, peppermint and a blended oil called Breathe. I am sure if you Google those you can find out. The peppermint seems to work best for Bethany. If you find they are safe and want to try them, let me know. Bethany can tell a difference within minutes of using them. We bough over-the-counter allergy meds for years and they hardly to never worked.
